Making your own gifts this year can be fun. It is much cheaper than whipping out your credit card and this gets your creative juices flowing.

This is a great project if you are creative, or have something you would like to share as a gift.

If you make a great craft, that other people, including friends and family have been bugging you to make for them, then why not show them how to make their own? This could be a craft, or making bread, or creating anything!

Most digital cameras have a “create movie” tab on them, and you can create a DVD of you making this craft. Like your very own TV show.

Get all your supplies that you will need, and make a list of them. Then get someone to film your steps, or set your camera up on a tri-pod. You can then transfer this to a DVD through your own computer.

Get yourself a package of blank DVD’s and then burn your movie onto them. Then spend some time creating a great front cover for the DVD. You could personalize this for your loved one, and make sure you have the list of needed items printed on the back of the this cover page.

If you have a great selection of photographs, whether on your computer or in old photo albums, why not spend some time scanning them onto your computer and creating a great CD for them! I did this for my siblings, of old photographs, and created a CD, then printed one of my favorite pictures onto plain paper and cut it to fit the CD cover. They just loved it!

Making your own gifts, can be fun, and recipes are another great gift. If you have a bunch of great recipes, stuffed in a drawer, why not transfer them to your computer. Spend some time typing them in and then either put them on a CD for a gift, or print them on some decorative paper. Put them in plastic page protectors, and a decorative binder for your loved one. You could add personalized notes on each recipe, about what happened the last time you served this, or something to remind them of you…

Making your own gifts, is also a great way to avoid that fear in January, that we all have of the postman when he brings that bag of bills. Just think, you won’t have that this time!

Christmas is a magical time. A time of hope, spirit, love, and especially family. This year make it a season of family togetherness and fun.
In recent years, we’ve all noticed that the Christmas season has gotten to be more and more commercialized.
It’s tough to see past the store displays and the hustle bustle of present buying.
In fact, during the Christmas season, sometimes you can be so overwhelmed by the pressure and expectations that you can forget that you should be using this time to celebrate all of the blessings that you have with your family.
But it doesn’t have to be like that.
HOLIDAY DECORATING IDEAS
One of the best things that you can do to get your family ready for the season is to get everyone involved in decorating.
Of course there are the traditional types of decorating that you can involve everyone in like decorating the Christmas tree or hanging lights on the outside of the house.
However, you can really use your creativity and come up with some fantastic Christmas crafts to create together.
For example, even little ones can help you create a paper chain that you can use to count down the days to Christmas much like an advent calendar.
Or maybe you want to do something even more creative.
Have everyone in the family sit down and cut out paper snowflakes. Take clear fishing line and hang them from the ceiling for instant holiday ambiance.
SPREAD SOME CHRISTMAS CHEER
Another great thing to try with your family is to go out Christmas caroling.
It’s fairly easy, and is sure to get you get you into the holiday spirit and will put a smile on your audiences’ faces.
Neighborhood caroling has gone pretty much out of style, but you can still have fun and be especially appreciated by arranging a trip to a hospital or nursing home.
During the holidays, visits like this are welcomed and you’ll leave feeling great about yourself and the younger kids will enjoy dressing up in Christmas costumes for their ‘performance’.
CHRISTMAS BAKING NEVER GOES OUT OF STYLE
Do not forget about including your family in your annual Christmas baking as well. No matter what you are baking, you will be able to find jobs for family members of all ages.
Not only would it be great to have the help, but it will help to create memories that you won’t soon forget.
And you’ll have very tasty treats all season long!
HOMEMADE CHRISTMAS GIFTS
Of course, one of the best ways that you can really engage your family’s creativity in the holiday season is by having everyone make homemade Christmas presents.
This will get you families creativity going like no other craft because there is a motivation to make it a really great project, especially with an early start.
Recipients can’t help but be touched by knowing that their gift was made with care and love by the gift giver.
Additionally, your family is sure to save some money on the presents that you will be making rather than paying the expensive sticker price for something from the store.
There are great ideas for homemade presents and you’ll just have to get your wheels turning to come up with the best one for you!

Every year during Christmas we decorate our Christmas tree with ornaments that we buy from store also with some really special ones that we make at home. The home made ornaments are basically made of our children’s photographs and brings back the lost memories each time we look at them. This not only makes our Christmas tree unique but gives it a personal touch and a door way to the lost happy days. If you would like to decorate your Christmas tree with photograph ornaments like we do here are some easy craft idea that you may pick up. The first holiday craft idea about the Christmas tree can even be done by a preschooler so you do not need to worry whether you have the necessary skill to pull it off. Take a 1/8 inch green sponge board and cut a three inch tree template. Now all you need to do is decorate this green tree ornament. You can make some brightly colored dots, even better if you allow your preschooler child to help you out. Once you are done coloring, cut a 1/2 inch hole towards the bottom of this green tree. Once done simply tape your photo or your children’s photo on the back of the tree so that it shows through the hole. You can add a red curling ribbon loop to the top of the tree to make it more attractive. One of my favorite Homemade Christmas ornaments that are made from photo are the felt bells that my son made me during his first year in Mother’s Day Out. His teacher skillfully cut a blue felt in the shame of a bell about three inches tall. A smaller while bell was also cut but this one has a small hole in the middle for the photo. The photo is attached to this while felt so as it shows through the hole. Once this is done you simply need to glue the white bell on top of the blue one. This will give the white bell a blue border all around. You can use a glitter glue pen to outline the edges of the white felt. Remember to punch a hole in the top of the bell and thread a blue ribbon to make a loop to hang the bell. Once this is done to complete the bell you will need to cut and blue a blue poster the same size and shape as the blue bell. Gluing it to the bell will actually stiffen the ornament. You can also attach a small jingle bell to the bottom of the ornament. The one my son had contained his name and year on the back, you can write yours.

Who says Christmas gifts need to be expensive? In fact, who ever said that Christmas gifts should be bought?
If you have the time to spare and the creative juice to squeeze, you can actually make your own gifts at the comforts of your home. And you don’t need much, just a few materials, some great ideas and design concepts and of course, a commitment of time.
Below are some homemade Christmas ideas that can help you get inspired. Read on and you might find something that can turn on that idea light bulb in your head.
1. Think of your interests
Before proceeding to make a homemade Christmas gift, first consider what your interests are and what you are good at doing. For instance, you cannot expect to do a trimming for a Christmas tree when you absolutely have no knowledge of crafts. You can’t also be expected to whip up a macaroni salad when you have not cooked anything in your life.
Know what you can do and then do it. If you are great with crocheting, then consider giving crocheted items as Christmas gifts. If you are good with painting, then consider giving paintings and cards as holiday presents. That way, doing home-made gifts will not only be easy but will also be enjoyable for you.
2. Think of their favorites
When you have already established what you can do as homemade gift, now is the time to think of the things that they will like or will be able to use. For instance, if you are doing crochet items as gifts, consider what they will most appreciate , e.g. sweater, scarf, bonnet, make-up purse, etc.
Also, consider their favorite color. The same goes with cooking or baking for them, consider their favorite foods. It is not only enough that you make the gift yourself; they must also like them. That is your bottom line. Otherwise, all your efforts will be wasted.
3. Wrap it up
Just because you made the gift yourself, it does not mean that you will not wrap it up or you will not take the time to wrap it properly. You also have to make an effort in the presentation. Try to jazz up your wraps with ribbons and glitter cloths.
You can even wrap it yourself with more or less the same materials that you used for the gift, that is if it’s a craft project. You can also have it wrapped in stores that specialize in wrapping service. Also, don’t forget to make a super personal dedication that they will surely remember.
